Overview

A concept for an eight-room guest house near the coast. The rooms trade decoration for comfort — good beds, generous storage, blackout and breeze — while the dining room carries more character through timber, low lighting and woven details.

Design brief

Create guest rooms that are easy for housekeeping to turn around and a dining room that feels relaxed in daylight and intimate in the evening.

Design approach

  1. Guest rooms share a consistent kit of furniture and finishes, making maintenance and replacement straightforward.

  2. Fabrics and finishes are selected for humidity, salt air and frequent cleaning.

  3. The dining room uses dimmable, layered lighting so a single room can serve breakfast and dinner.
